MIRI, Dec 7: Five political parties will fight it out in N74 Pujut for the 12th Sarawak Election.

Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Bruce Chai Khim Cheong, Alan Ling Sie Kiong of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Leslie Ting of Party Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and Erick Chin Fen Siong from Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi) are confirmed to be standing in the seat.

Since the seat was left vacant in 2020 following  Democratic Action Party (DAP) Dr Ting Tiong Choon’s disqualification as its assemblyman in February due to the Federal Court’s over the State Legislative Assembly’s action against him due to his past dual citizenship, Pujut has been considered as a hot seat.

Yii, 56, was accompanied by his proposer, former Pujut assemblyman Andy Chia and Cr Sardon Zainal his seconder marching into the nomination centre, at Miri City Council chamber meeting room in Jalan Raja here.

“We will try our best to wrestle back Pujut in this election,” disclosed Yii when met after submitting his nomination forms.

Second to arrive was Erick Chin Fen Siong, 53, from Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak(Aspirasi) at 8.10am.

Meanwhile, Alan Ling, 39, was seen walking into the nomination centre accompanied by his proposer, DAP Miri Women chief Thian Sew Meei and DAP Miri branch committee member Bong Sin Ted at 8.35am.

Ling was rumoured to be standing in Piasau, but was then named to contest in Pujut instead. — DayakDaily
