KUCHING, July 28: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has placed Bintulu and Sri Aman on Level 1 (Alert) due to hot weather conditions.
According to a MetMalaysia statement issued today and updated at 6am, the two areas have been categorised as having hot weather conditions, as temperatures exceeded 35°C and reached 37°C for at least three consecutive days.
MetMalaysia defines its hot weather alerts as: Level 1 (Alert): maximum daily temperature 35°C to 37°C for at least three consecutive days; Level 2 (Heat Wave): maximum daily temperature exceeding 37°C to 40°C for at least three consecutive days and Level 3 (Extreme Heat Wave): maximum daily temperature above 40°C for at least three consecutive days.
The department further advised the public to refer to its website at www.met.gov.my and social media platforms or download the myCuaca application to obtain the latest and accurate information. — DayakDaily
