“We await input from the hospitality sector on a cooperative approach to the new minimum wage structure and its management,” Tiong stated, responding to Sandakan MP Vivian Wong Shir Yee’s inquiry.
Tiong further emphasized MOTAC’s ongoing support for local tourism players through various assistance and incentives.
He also addressed tourism accommodation regulation, confirming that it falls under state government jurisdiction, with oversight by the Local Authorities (PBT) in each region.
To strengthen the accommodation ecosystem, he added, MOTAC will collaborate with the State Government, the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), and PBT to discuss licensing and regulations, particularly for short-term rental accommodations (STRA). — DayakDaily
