KUCHING, Dec 31: Malaysia recorded the highest number of daily cases of positive Covid-19 with a total of 2,525 cases reported, and eight deaths recorded involving Malaysian.
According to Ministry of Health (MOH) director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today, from the total number of new cases reported today, 13 were imported cases were while the rest are local transmission.
“This brings the total number of positive Covid-19 cases in the country to 113,010 cases, with 23,598 cases still active,” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham noted Selangor reported the highest number of cases with a total of 1,205 cases (47.7 per cent), followed by Sabah with 299 cases, Melaka (239), Kuala Lumpur (222), Johor (194), Pulau Pinang (92), Negeri Sembilan (78), Labuan (63), Kelantan (37), Perak (33), Kedah (24), Terengganu (17), Pahang (15), Putrajaya (five), and Sarawak (two) while Perlis recorded zero new case.
At the same time Dr. Noor Hisham also revealed that five new clusters were identified today involving a total of 124 individuals.
“The new clusters are namely Jalan Gajah cluster (22) and Jalan Datuk cluster (23) in Selangor, Kampung Baru cluster (35) and Pekeliling cluster (27) in Johor, and Jalan Rasah cluster (17) in Putrajaya,” he said.
On the same note, Dr. Noor Hisham said a total 1,481 cases involving Covid-19 has recovered, bringing the total cumulative number of recovered and discharged cases involving Covid-19 in the country to 88,941 cases (78.7 per cent).
“Eight deaths of Covid-19 were reported today, bringing the total cumulative numbers of Covid-19 death cases to 471 (0.42 per cent),” he added. – DayakDaily.
