KUCHING, Feb 8: In line with Habitat for Indigenous and Urban Programme (Hidup) ongoing efforts to help protect rural folk from potential Covid-19 infections, it helps to organise sanitising works in various villages in Stakan.
Over the weekend, Hidup organised sanitising works at SK Merdang and St Joseph’s Church, Sungai Empit along Jalan Datuk Mohamad Musa here.
Hidup president George Young Si Ricord said they were able to ca rry out sanitising works in both schools and churches which are still closed due to the Conditional Control Movement Order (CMCO).
“We are taking a proactive approach minimise the risk of Covid-19 infections in this part of the village where most villagers tend to congregate. Sanitising these areas not only enhances the area’s hygiene but also reinforces the importance of maintaining good hygiene habits such as washing and sanitising hands,” said George in a statement issued here today.
He also thanked Kaizen Coway led by its team leader Mohamad Baihao for their assistance.
Meanwhile George and his team also visited the residents of Merdang Lumut to highlight their predicament following the recent flooding affecting the area.
He said, flooding in the village worsened ever since the adjacent housing projects started.
George also said, several local residents have complaint about the narrow culvert situated at St Peter’s Anglican Cemetery, Kampung Merdang which has often caused flash flood. — DayakDaily
