KUCHING, April 24: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak this afternoon.
Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Kuching (Kuching), Samarahan (Samarahan), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Mukah), Kapit (Belaga), Bintulu (Tatau), and Miri (Telang Usan). The warning, issued at 3.55pm today, remains in effect until 6pm.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
