Sukma and Para Sukma 2024: Sarawak delegations pay courtesy calls across Malaysia to invite state dignitaries to attend

KUCHING, April 24: Delegations from Sarawak representing the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) and Para Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024 recently paid courtesy calls on various officials and dignitaries from different states.

According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the Sarawak government delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, and Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK), Datuk Rosey Yunus.


Ukas reported that Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli both received courtesy calls at their respective offices on Monday (April 22).

The courtesy calls were made to invite Chow and Mohd Shukri to attend Sukma in Sarawak which is hosting the event.

The Sarawak government delegation had earlier visited Penang and paid a courtesy call on Chow at his office in Komtar, George Town.

The Sarawak delegation then proceeded to Perlis to pay a courtesy call on Mohd Shukri at his office in the Perlis State Legislative Assembly Complex, in Kangar.

Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil also joined the delegation on a visit to Kampung Warna-Warni or Rainbow Village, a tourist attraction in Kuala Perlis.

Among those present during the visits were MYSED deputy permanent secretary Dolhadi Mazuki; assistant secretary-general Jee Chin Fu; and KPWK deputy secretary Nur Alina Abdullah Colliner Gohe.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday (April 23), the delegation went to Kedah and made a courtesy call to Kedah Menteri Besar Dato Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, at his office in Wisma Darul Aman, Alor Setar.

Ukas reported that the Sukma delegation’s mission to organise the two sports events in August received strong support from the Kedah government.

Furthermore, Chief Minister of Terengganu, Dato Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, welcomed the Sarawak delegation which delivered the letter of invitation to the Terengganu government to participate in the two sports games in August and September.

A courtesy call by the Sarawak delegation led by Deputy Minister of Community Welfare Development, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, and also attended by MYSED deputy minister Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, took place at the Terengganu Chief Minister’s office on April 23.

It was reported by Ukas that a total of 800 Terengganu athletes will participate in Sukma in Sarawak this time while 93 athletes will participate in Para Sukma in September.

Additionally, the Sarawak delegation paid a courtesy call on Menteri Besar of Kelantan, Dato Panglima Perang Ustaz Dato Mohd Nassurudin Daud at his office in Kelantan.

The Sarawak delegation was led by Mohammad Razi and included Dr Ripin and the Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Operations)-cum-chief executive officer of Sukma and Para Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024, Datu Hii Chang Kee.

A total of 531 athletes and officials from Kelantan will be involved in the tournaments.

Kelantan has registered to participate in 32 sports. — DayakDaily
