Heavy rain, strong winds expected in several areas of Sarawak until 4pm (Dec 5)

KUCHING, Dec 5: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak, effective until 4pm today.

The advisory, issued at 12.55pm today listed the affected areas including Kuching, Serian, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong), Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, and Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi), and Limbang.

According to MetMalaysia, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds are expected, with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour lasting for more than an hour in these regions.

Thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts and are only valid for six hours from the time of issuance.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions, especially during outdoor activities, and to remain updated with the latest weather forecasts. — DayakDaily
