Health Ministry to rebuild up to 8 dilapidated clinics in Sarawak with State govt’s RM50 mln allocation

MIRI, Nov 10: The Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) will fully utilise an additional RM50 million allocation from the Sarawak government to rebuild and demolish dilapidated clinics.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Health Minister Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni stated that RM50 million would be used to build seven to eight clinics, while RM3 million has been allocated to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) to help expand its emergency department.

“This is a commitment from the Sarawak government, especially from Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on matters like this.

“If we (MOH) and the Sarawak Health Director Dr Veronica Lugah, along with her team, can complete these projects promptly, I assure you that the Sarawak Premier will not hesitate to provide millions more to upgrade health facilities across Sarawak,” he was reported as saying during a dinner in celebration of Sarawak Medical Services Union’s (SMSU) 60th Diamond Jubilee at a hotel here last night (Nov 9). — DayakDaily
