KUCHING, March 21: Sarawak has not decided yet on a fourth vaccine jab, said Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS) director Dr Ooi Choo Huck.

According to Dr Ooi, there is not enough information regarding implementing the fourth shot, even from the World Health Organisation (WHO).

“But there are other countries such as Israel that have tried it, and from their report, it is not good.

“I think we will always follow the science (data) and the expert, which is WHO,” he told reporters during a press conference held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

Meanwhile, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who was also at the press conference, said Sarawak had reached a vaccination rate of 88.7 per cent.

However, he said there are still 204,868 eligible individuals who have yet to get their booster shots.

“For children, we have achieved a vaccination rate of 69.5 per cent, and the target is 70 per cent by the end of this month. I think we can achieve it without a problem,” he added. — DayakDaily
