Health DG: Five of eight new Covid-19 cases today local transmissions

KUCHING, July 30: Eight new Covid-19 cases were reported in Malaysia today, revealed Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a press conference today.

“This makes a cumulative number of 8,964 Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as of today,” he said, adding that the number of active cases stands at 223, involving patients who are receiving treatment in isolation wards across the country.


He pointed out that out of the eight new reported cases today, three were imported cases with one each from Kazakhstan, the Philippines and Indonesia.

The other five were local transmission cases involving Malaysians in Kuala Lumpur (one), Johor (one) and Sabah (three).

“Until now, there are three positive Covid-19 cases that are receiving treatment in hospitals (in Intensive Care Units) and one case needing respiratory assistance,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham also revealed there were no new Covid-19 fatalities, and the national toll remains at 124.

He also revealed there were five recoveries in the country who have been successfully discharged, raising the overall number of recoveries to 8,617 or 96.13 per cent of total cases recorded. — DayakDaily
