SIBU, May 28: A senior police officer suffered light injuries during a road accident at Jalan Lanang yesterday evening.
Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit was driving alone when he lost control of his vehicle before it crashed into a tree in front of SMK Chung Hua.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement said they received the emergency call at 8.49pm.
A team of seven firefighters from Sibu Central fire station were dispatched to the scene.
It was understood that members of the public managed to take Stanley out of the wreckage and he was later taken to the hospital by an ambulance from Civil Defence Force (APM).
“No rescue operation was performed by Bomba. However, firefighters removed the car’s battery,” the statement said.—DayakDaily
