KUCHING, March 6: In conjunction with the Miri City Car-Free Day event, several roads including Jalan North Yu Seng, Jalan Merpati, half of Jalan Persekutuan, Jalan Kipas, Jalan Sylvia, and Jalan Parry will be temporarily closed to vehicles on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 5.30am to 11am.
A press release from the Miri City Council (MCC) advises vehicle owners to plan ahead due to road closures and consider alternative routes to reach their destinations.
In addition to stationing traffic wardens, the council stated that appropriate traffic diversion road signs will be installed at the site to assist car owners in making road diversion.
Due to the large number of attendees at the event, parking will be limited. The event will have parking options available at Jalan Ansellia car park, Jalan Zinnia car park, Jalan Calliandra car park, Jalan Helenium car park, and Jalan Unus car park.
“Come join us this Car-Free Day and be part of a global effort to reduce traffic and improve air quality by taking greener trips.
“A series of activities will be organized on that day, including Zumba, Tai Chi, fun walk, fun games and lucky draws.
