Half body found on Tanjung Maludam beach believed to be Nek Dillah who went missing since Jan 16

BETONG, Jan 19: Kampung Hilir Beladin is in shock after a body with only the lower part from the waist down to the feet washed up on Tanjung Maludam beach this morning, believed to be the body of sexagenarian Nek Dillah, who went missing in Kampung Hilir Beladin since Tuesday night (Jan 16).

According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the body was found by a local fisherman around 10.50am, with only the lower part from the waist down to the feet.

Upon receiving the distress call, the authorities quickly rushed to the scene and the body was brought to Beladin Health Clinic for confirmation of body identification by Nek Dillah’s family members.


Bomba further reported that Nek Dillah’s niece had confirmed that the body found matched the victim based on the outfit he was last seen wearing and the shape of his legs.

Afterwards, the search and rescue (SAR) operation concluded around 12.45pm upon the order of Betong police.

Nek Dillah, or his full name Dillah Rigan, 69, failed to return home on Monday night (Jan 16), which prompted his family members to lodge a police report. — DayakDaily
