Habitual drug offender gets served more time and whipping

KUCHING, Dec 18: The Sessions Court here sentenced a habitual drug offender to five years’ imprisonment and one stroke of the rotan for administering drugs.

Muhamad Firdaus Roslan pleaded guilty to the charge framed.

He is currently serving his previous jail sentence at Puncak Borneo. The Sessions Court Judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad ordered his term of imprisonment to run consecutively with the current jail term he is serving, which is two yearsā€™ imprisonment.


He was found to be administering Amphetamine and Methamphetamine to himself at the Kuching District Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Department office at about 4.23pm on July 29, 2019.

He was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and read together with Section 39(c)(1) of the same Act.

Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a fine not exceeding RM 5,000 or to imprisonment not exceeding two years, upon conviction.

Section 39(c)(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries imprisonment term between five years and seven years, and liable to whipping not more than three strokes, upon conviction.

The accused had two other previous convictions.
