Amendment on anti-party hopping among six bills to be tabled in DUN

KUCHING, Nov 20: A total of six government bills are to be tabled in the Third Session of the First Term of the 19th Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting which is scheduled for Nov 21 until Nov 30, 2022.

DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said the bills to be tabled are the Supply (2023) Bill, 2022; Electronic Sarawak Government Activities Bill, 2022; Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) (No.2) Bill, 2022; Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board Bill, 2022; Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022; and Veterinary Public Health (Amendment) Bill, 2022.


The Supply (2023) Bill, 2022 will be tabled by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the Minister for Finance and New Economy, with the first and second readings to be held on Nov 21, and the third reading on Nov 30.

Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Datuk Julaihi Narawi will table the Electronic Sarawak Government Activities Bill, 2022, with the first reading to be held on Nov 21, and the second and third readings scheduled for Nov 22.

Furthermore, the Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) (No.2) Bill, 2022 will be tabled by Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, with the first reading to be held on Nov 21, and the second and third readings scheduled for Nov 22.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari will also table the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board Bill, 2022, with the first reading to be held on Nov 21, and the second and third readings scheduled for Nov 22.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022 will be tabled by Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also the Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, with the first reading to be held on Nov 21, and the second and third readings scheduled for Nov 23.

As for the Veterinary Public Health (Amendment) Bill, 2022, it will be tabled by Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, with the first reading to be held on Nov 21, and the second and third readings scheduled for Nov 23.

In the meantime, Mohamad Asfia stated at a press conference that for the Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) (No.2) Bill, the amendment concerns anti-party hopping in line with the Federal Constitution and on the Eighth Schedule of the constitution.
