BINTULU, Jan 29: Miri General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 12 seized firecrackers, contraband cigarettes and alcohol worth RM294,000 during ‘Ops Libas’ last night.

These contrabands items were found in a building at Mile 8 Bintulu-Miri Road at 11.56pm.

GOF Battalion 12 commanding officer Supt Tan Hiap Seng, in a press statement, said the building’s 69-year-old caretaker had been arrested to assist in their probe.

He revealed that the operation was conducted following recent monitoring of the area, and the raiding party found 612 boxes of firecrackers, 60 cartons of alcoholic beverages and 56 boxes of cigarettes.
