Glass panel accident kills two, injures one at Bintulu factory

BINTULU, Jan 3: Two Indonesian nationals lost their lives, and one sustained injuries after being crushed by large glass panels inside a freight container at a factory in Bintulu this morning.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving an emergency call at 10.29am, prompting the dispatch of a team from the Kidurong Fire Station to the scene.

Upon arrival, the rescue team discovered three victims trapped beneath the debris—one conscious and two unresponsive.

Firefighters utilised various tools, including shovels, pickaxes, hammers, and an excavator, to free the victims.

The conscious victim was immediately handed over to paramedics for medical treatment.

Unfortunately, the two other victims were pronounced dead at the scene by health officials and subsequently handed over to the police for further procedures.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation. – DayakDaily
