Girl stable at hospital after fall from Darul Hana Bridge, believed linked to personal issue

KUCHING, Aug 15: A girl who reportedly fell from the Darul Hana Bridge at the Kuching Waterfront yesterday evening is in stable condition and receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

In a statement today, Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim has been identified and is currently undergoing further treatment in the Yellow Zone of the hospital’s Emergency and Trauma Unit.

“The victim remains conscious and her condition has been reported as stable,” he said.

Police received a report on Aug 14 regarding the incident, which came to public attention after a 35-second video showing an individual falling from the bridge went viral on social media.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident is believed to be linked to personal issues,” he added.

However, Alexson said investigations are still ongoing to determine the actual cause of the incident.

He also confirmed that police are aware of the viral video circulating online and advised the public against making speculations or spreading unverified information about the case.

Alexson further reminded members of the public not to engage in any actions that could endanger their own lives or the safety of others.
