MIRI, Sept 16: A female student of a higher learning institution here has claimed rape by a fellow student whom she barely knows on Saturday (Sept 14).
The suspect has been identified as a foreigner from Nigeria.
The incident allegedly occurred in an unoccupied building at wee hours of Saturday.
Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said police has detained the suspect to assist in investigation.
Prior to the alleged incident, the 20-year-old victim, with her two other female friends had gone to an entertainment outlet located at Jalan North Yu Seng.
They arrived with a grab car.
It was inside the entertainment premises that the victim met and befriended the 24-year-old suspect.
Subsequently, the suspect requested the victim to accompany him to a nearby shop to buy a pack of cigarettes.
The victim complied and both of them drove off in a car heading towards the shop.
While in the car, the victim claimed that the suspect molested her but she was too scared to put up a fight.
The suspect later pulled over at an unknown location and brought the victim inside an unoccupied building where the alleged rape took place.
A police report was later lodged by the victim.
The case is being framed under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape. — DayakDaily
