KUCHING, June 27: Clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) has partnered with Sarawak Energy and SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd to explore potential opportunities in renewable energy, green hydrogen production and establishing a wide-ranging electric vehicle (EV) charging network in Sarawak.
The three parties signed two Strategic Collaboration Agreements (SCAs) for their respective collaborations during the Energy Asia Conference in Kuala Lumpur today which was witnessed by Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
In Gentari’s partnership with Sarawak Energy, the focus will be on diversifying and enhancing Sarawak’s energy mix to enable a more sustainable and renewable energy supply, through the deployment of renewable energy projects.
Meanwhile, Gentari’s collaboration with SEDC Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, will focus on the green hydrogen production in the H2Hub by optimising Sarawak’s abundant renewable resources.
In addition, Gentari is collaborating with both Sarawak Energy and SEDC Energy to establish a comprehensive and wide-ranging EV charging network in Sarawak – an initiative that will be vital for promoting green mobility solutions and encouraging the shift towards low carbon transportation in the State.
Gentari chief executive officer Sushil Purohit emphasised that by leveraging its expertise to enable end-to-end solutions, they aim to help foster a greener and more energy resilient future for the State.
“We are proud to collaborate with Sarawak Energy and SEDC Energy to pursue the deployment of clean energy solutions in Sarawak and actively drive the state’s energy transition and decarbonisation efforts. Our strategic partnership embodies a holistic approach to address the clean energy needs of Sarawak,” he said in a media release today.
Sarawak Energy Berhad Group CEO Datu Sharbini Suhaili said this collaboration reflected its commitment to driving Sarawak’s energy transition and decarbonisation initiatives, while reinforcing its position as a regional leader in the renewable energy sector.
“We are excited to continue working together with Petronas, through Gentari, in this important endeavour to accelerate the growth of clean, renewable energy in Sarawak. With Sarawak Energy’s generation mix predominantly based on renewable hydropower, we are well positioned to enhance and diversify our energy sources, as well as to further decarbonise our transportation sector.
“This partnership is a significant step towards realising our vision of achieving sustainable growth and prosperity for our communities in Sarawak, all while safeguarding the environment,” he added.
To ensure the full success of the strategic collaboration, Gentari will work closely with the Sarawak government and other stakeholders in a public-private coordination framework.
Meanwhile, the three-day conference gathered energy professionals, industry leaders, and policymakers with the aim to advance Asia’s net-zero ambitions through actionable solutions for a just and responsible energy transition.
