Generali Malaysia launches Sibu branch as strategic step to strengthen presence in Borneo market

SIBU, Sept 3: The opening of a Generali Malaysia branch here will spur the economic development of the central region of the State.

“We really appreciate that Generali Malaysia’s presence in the central region of Sarawak gives a much-needed boost for Sibu’s economic growth as well as fosters inclusive employment opportunities among our people,” said Datuk Michael Tiang.

Speaking at the opening of Generali Malaysia’s Sibu branch today, the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, congratulated the company for recognising Sibu’s immense potential by setting a branch here, thereby actively contributing to the continued growth of the town.

He added that it was also the State’s priority in wanting to develop Sibu into a world-class city by 2030 with the implementation of Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

“Because of sustainable green energy, innovation and technology as well as digital economy—(this) all gears towards realising Sarawak’s vision of becoming a high-income economy by year 2030 and Sarawak continues to forge ahead towards greater growth and development. It is also our top priority in Sibu to grow into a world-class city. The fundamental step being taking care of the needs of the people here by enhancing their welfare and protection needs following the recent launch of the Generali Malaysia integrated branch in Kuching,’ Tiang added.

Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad Chief Executive Officer Fabrice Benard said following the successful launches of their integrated branches in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, launching the Sibu branch represents a strategic step in its commitment to bring industry-leading services closer to their customers in East Malaysia.
