SIBU, Sept 10: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) has nominated its secretary-general, Priscilla Lau, as its candidate for the Lanang parliamentary seat in the coming 15th General Election (GE15).
Speaking at a press conference today, its president Voon Lee Shan said the party chose Lau for the seat because she had previous elections experience.
He said Lau should be given the opportunity to contest at the parliamentary level after also contesting in the 12th Sarawak Election (PRN12) in the Bukit Assek constituency.
In addition, he explained, Lau had also contested the Lanang parliamentary seat in GE14 in 2018 under the Sarawak Peace Party (SPP) at that time.
Lau is a lawyer and has extensive experience in politics.
The Lanang parliamentary seat is currently represented by Alice Lau Kiong Yien of the Democratic Action Party (DAP).
Voon also hopes voters in the Lanang constituency will support Lau and PBK in their efforts to fight for Sarawak’s rights.
