SIBU, May 3: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Dudong chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai hopes Barisan Nasional (BN) friendly component party United People’s Party (UPP) will reciprocate PRS’ goodwill gesture in Sibu by helping the PRS candidate in Lubok Antu.
He said PRS in Sibu have been supporting Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) candidate for Sibu Datuk Andrew Wong, who is the son of UPP president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.
“This afternoon (yesterday), our PRS members together with SUPP and PDP (Progressive Democratic Party) attended a function organised by PBB (Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu) Wanita to support Datuk Andrew.
“This is the kind of spirit we want to see in BN. And as a BN-friendly party, we expect UPP to help us also in Lubok Antu,” Sempurai told DayakDaily yesterday.
He said, his party has observed that UPP in Engkilili has not been doing much to help PRS’ new face in Lubok Antu Robert Pasang Alam.
“We hope to see greater effort from UPP in Engkilili. If we work together, our campaign effort will be more impactful,” said Sempurai who is also Sibu Rural District Council chairman.
