MIRI, Feb 6: Traffic on the busy Miri-Bintulu road off Jalan Merpati here came to to a grinding halt during peak hours on Thursday morning after a garbage truck caught fire.
Prior to the incident, the garbage truck was plying heading towards Telang Usan roundabout from city centre when it caught up in flames around 7.40am.
The incident happened adjacent to Miri General Operations Force (GOF) 12th Battalion here.
According to Miri fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, 50 per cent of the garbage truck was razed in the incident.
One person was reported to have been injured in the incident.
Traffic on both sides of the road were completely halted as firemen worked on dousing the flames.—DayakDaily
