KUCHING, May 10: The Sarawak-level Gawai Dayak Committee 2024 has outlined five major events in May and June to share the joy and significance of the Gawai Dayak celebration, with the Gawai Dayak Gala Dinner being one of the celebrated events to be held during the period.
Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn launched the Sarawak-level Gawai Dayak Celebration in the media room of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) today.
According to him, the Gawai Dayak Gala Dinner will be held on June 22 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) with the Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg as guests of honour.
There will be four other major events that will be held alongside the gala dinner: the Gawai Dayak Bazaar, Gawai Dayak Carnival, Gawai Dayak Cultural Parade, and the publication of an eBook and Coffee Table Book.
The bazaar is scheduled from May 16 to May 26 at Batu Kawah New Township (MJC), whereas the carnival will be held from June 6 to June 8 at Dewan Manggeng, Siburan, said Sagah. Meanwhile, the cultural parade will be held on June 15, taking place along the Tun Jugah building all the way to the Kuching Waterfront.
Meanwhile, the publication of an eBook and Coffee Table Book is planned for launch on September 16 at Sri Aman; however, Sagah said that the date has yet to be confirmed. –DayakDaily
