SARATOK, Sept 26: Thirteen kindergarten children had half-a-day off from books and school yesterday when their teachers took them for a fun trip to the fire station.

Accompanied by two teachers, the children from SK Ng Gerenjang Saratok experienced one of the most memorable field trip a child can ask for.

Not only did they learn about basic fire awareness, they get to ‘stop, drop and roll’ with so much laughter when firefighters made them practice the fire safety procedure.

Saratok Fire station chief Nazry Mohamat said they were also taught about emergency number 999, dangers of fire, lighters and matches.

Each of them were given the chance to don on the camouflage suit before they proceed to act like real firefighter by holding on the fire hose and spray water.

The fun did not end there. As a finale, the children headed to the fire truck, see what is inside and eventually got carried inside by their ‘abang bomba’ so they can ride in it.

Just before they say goodbye, Nazry presented them a set of colouring books and pencils for them to bring back. — DayakDaily
