Local man, Indonesian woman arrested in drug bust

KUCHING, Sept 26: Police have confiscated RM66,730 in cash and arrested a local man with an Indonesian woman for suspected drug possession and abuse at Jalan Selangan Batu, yesterday.

Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) head, Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid said they also seized crystalised substance believed to be Syabu, weighing 18.88 grammes, worth about RM2,200 from the suspects.

He added that the 24-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were detained in a raid at a house at 11.15am, following a public tip-off.


“The two were in one of the bedrooms upstairs when police arrived,” he said in a statement.

The police found a dark brown sling bag on a table and further checks revealed 12 packets of crystalised substance.

Both were later tested positive for methamphetamine and being investigated under Section 39A(1) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act for drug abuse. — DayakDaily
