KUCHING, Nov 21: DayakDaily extends its heartfelt appreciation to every member of the public who contributed to this year’s children’s book collection drive, which ran from October 13 to November 21.

Thanks to your generosity, we successfully gathered 879 books—each one a gift of imagination, knowledge and opportunity for children in rural Sarawak.

These 879 books, together with additional reading materials contributed by BESarawak, will further expand and enrich the selected rural library’s collection, ensuring young readers have even more resources to explore.

Secondhand books collected to be sent to a chosen rural community.

This annual initiative, part of DayakDaily’s long-standing corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment, aims to place quality reading materials into the hands of young readers in remote communities.

For 2026, all donated books will be transported to a selected rural library, with the official handover scheduled during our D’Drift trip, taking place from February 18 to 27, 2026.

We also wish to acknowledge La Promenade Mall in Kota Samarahan for generously providing space for our collection point throughout the campaign period.

Alongside the collection box at our TT3 Plaza office, this additional location made it easier for the public to contribute, and the results speak for themselves.

This year’s achievement adds to a meaningful journey that began in 2022. Over the past few years, DayakDaily has delivered thousands of books and bags of soft toys to communities across Sarawak, including Ulu Belaga, Ulu Baram, Tarat and Lusong Laku.

Each donation has helped support rural libraries, community centres and reading corners, fostering a culture of learning where resources are often limited.

The books collected this year will continue that mission, having travelled from urban shelves to rural hands, where they will spark curiosity, joy and lifelong learning.

To everyone who donated, shared our message or stopped by our collection corners: thank you for helping us turn pages into possibilities. Your support ensures that the story of literacy, empowerment and community continues to grow in Sarawak’s most remote corners. — DayakDaily
