Free cupping sessions, on-the-spot consultation to be provided to La Promenade Fitness Weekend runners

HSL's first annual La Promenade Fitness Weekend — Leading Healthy X-tive Lifestyles.

KUCHING, April 6: Free cupping sessions and on-the-spot consultation will be provided to all runners of La Promenade Fitness Weekend coming May 6 to 8.

Hock Seng Lee (HSL) said the services will be provided by the newly set up complementary medical centre Sunway Traditional Complementary Medicine (TCM), which is also one of the event partners.

While Sunway merchandises will be in all race packs of the La Promenade Half Marathon, 10km, 5km, and 3km categories, its medical professionals will also be selling post-marathon recovery packages including herbal plasters and immunity booster teas at its booth during event days.

HSL senior property development general manager Tay Chiok Kee said HSL and Sunway have many shared brand values such as healthy living, family fun and environmental sustainability.

“Having a joint HSL-Sunway collaboration means more for runners, more freebies, more health advocates for the public to speak to, more for everyone to look forward to,” he said.

The Half Marathon at La Promenade is the first since 2019, and all categories are limited to 350 participants maximum as per existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) by the Sarawak government.

To date, the most popular categories have been the 3km family walk and the 21km competitive run with timing chip. All routes start and finish at the mall, and all routes include portions of the 1.8km La Promenade tree-lined boulevard.

La Promenade said early bird responses have been better than anticipated whereby corporate sign-ups included groups as large as 20 participants.

Over the May 6 to 8 weekend, there will also be the Sweat Challenge by The Sweat Factory, a challenge that includes a professional invite-only category with teams coming from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Miri and Bintulu.

The Samarahan-level of X-Tive Sarawak, organised with the Government, will also take place. There will be Zumba and yoga classes, Muay Thai demos by Rentap Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu demos by Studio 23 on Saturday and Sunday. All X-tive events are free.

HSL intends to make the La Promenade Fitness Festival an annual event, just like the recently concluded Sarawak Open – Bonsai and Suiseki Championship.

Sign-up fees for the runs start from RM30-RM60 during early bird (ending April 8, 11:59pm) and RM40 to RM70 after. Group sign-ups of five participants are the cheapest.
