Four snatch thefts solved with capture of thief

KUCHING, Sept 18: Police were able to solve at least four snatch theft cases after a 36-year-old suspect was arrested at a hotel in the Kuching city area on Thursday night.

The arrest was made at 11.10pm when a team of police from Crime Investigation Department Kuching was able to track and arrest the suspect based on the information collected.

“With the efficiency and accuracy source which the police had, we were able to track and located the suspect,” Kuching District Acting Police Chief, Supt Merbin Lisa said in the press statement.

“Police had also received a snatch theft case which happened on 16th of September, 2020 at Carpenter Street, Kuching where the victim’s gold necklace worth RM10,000 was snatched,” Merbin added.

According to Merbin, the suspect acted alone and had been active since July 2020. Further investigation led to more items such as a car, two motorcycles, money, helmet, and clothes used in the different snatching cases.

“The suspect had multiple criminal records and was just released from jail in March 2020. The suspect was also tested positive in Methamphetamine,” Merbin stated.

Merbin pointed out that the suspect will be remanded until Sept 22, 2020 and will be investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
