KUCHING, Feb 21: Four more medical personnel have been infected with Covid-19, bringing the tally of healthcare workers in Sarawak who have contacted the coronavirus to 197 as of to-date (Feb 21).
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today said there were two cases of Covid-19 identified in Kuching following screening of medical personnel at healthcare centres in Kuching and another two cases which involved healthcare workers in a healthcare facility in Sibu.
Until yesterday, there were a total of 193 healthcare providers who have been infected with Covid-19 from major hospitals throughout Sarawak from January this year.
State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing had on Feb 9 disclosed that there were 162 cases of Covid-19 which involved medical practitioners between January to Feb 8.
From then onwards, four new cases were reported on the same day (Feb 9) and three more cases on the next day, adding up to the number of medical personnel who have been infected with the coronavirus to 169.
Subsequently cases which involved healthcare workers were detected almost daily with four cases on Feb 11, one on Feb 12, four on Feb 13, one each on Feb 14 and 15, eight on Feb 16, two on Feb 18, one on Feb 19 and two yesterday (Feb 20). — DayakDaily
