Pasai Cluster menace eases, new cases drop to 5 today

KUCHING, Feb 21: The menace of the Pasai Cluster in Sarawak showed signs of easing today with only five new cases reported across three districts.

According to reports by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the Pasai Cluster infected two patients in Kanowit, two in Song and one in Kapit.


Yesterday (Feb 20), a total of 20 new cases was traced back to the cluster, with 10 in Sibu, Song (8) and Kapit (2).

With today’s increase, the cumulative number of cases under the state’s most prolific Covid-19 cluster now stands at 2,640.

SDMC also revealed that from the 37,000 individuals screened, 34,000 were confirmed to be negative for Covid-19, with 360 more samples awaiting laboratory test results.

The Tangap Sub-cluster in Subis did not report any new cases today.

Meanwhile, seven other clusters in the state which registered increases in cases are the Gelong Cluster with 19, Kejatau Cluster (10), Jan Yong Cluster (4), Jalan Green Cluster (3), Univista Cluster (3), Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster (1), Sebangkoi Cluster (1).

The remaining 16 clusters namely Geronggang, Mas Merah, Kidurong Dua, Nanga Lijan, Seruas, Jun Heng, Bintang Daily, Jalan Pengiran, Tabong, Indah Riang, Bedayan, Rakut, Bukit Sekubong, Jelita, Bah Sayap and Stutong Clusters did not find any new infections today. — DayakDaily
