SIBU, March 13: Four persons in Sibu Jaya Commercial Centre were compounded RM10,000 each for violating the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) today.

They were caught by a 14-member Integrated SOP monitoring team during an inspection from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

The four were two hairdressers who failed to put on personal protective equipment (PPE) while at work, a coffee shop operator who did not put up a yellow line around his shop and a helper of a Kampua noodle stall for wearing a face mask improperly.

Leading the operation was Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division head DSP Ariffin Bahar who said that they were no longer issuing any warning but would straightaway issue the compound which carries a fine of RM10,000 to violators.

“We are starting to fine business owners RM10,000 today. We want business owners to take the matter seriously,” he said.

He added that they will continue to monitor for those not adhering to the SOPs in and around Sibu town. -DayakDaily
