Four arrested in Miri drug raids, meth worth RM23,631.30 seized

MIRI, July 3: Four individuals, including a local woman and a foreigner, have been detained following three separate raids by the Sarawak Police Contingent and the Miri Police Headquarters, resulting in the seizure of 214.83 grammes of methamphetamine (syabu) worth RM23,631.30.

In a statement today, Miri Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the successful raids, which commenced on July 1, with all three cases being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The suspects face severe penalties under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, including the death penalty, life imprisonment, and a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane if convicted.

In the first raid on July 1 at approximately 10.45pm, a foreign national was arrested at a house in the Miri with police seizing 67.32 grammes of syabu valued at RM7,405.20.

On July 2 at 12.30am, a local man and woman was arrested at another house with 95.57 grammes of syabu estimated to be worth RM10,512.70.
Later, at 3.20pm, another local man was arrested at a hut in with 51.94 grammes of syabu worth RM5,713.40.

All suspects were remanded for further investigations.
