SIBU, June 2: Four suspects were arrested after a fight broke out, resulting from allegedly provocative statements on Facebook.

Sibu district deputy police chief, DSP Collin Babat confirmed the case.

The four suspects are aged between 24 to 39.

On June 1, at about about 7.15pm, the first suspect is alleged to have uploaded two provocative statements on his Facebook account. This prompted the second and third suspects to search for the former at his residence in Jalan Mengeris.

The first suspect apologised to them and subsequently deleted the two statements on Facebook.

However, a short time later, the fourth suspect appeared with some 20 other people and proceeded to assault the mechanic who received injuries to his mouth, face and head.

The four suspects have been detained to facilitate investigation under Section 147/298A/505(c) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. — DayakDaily
