Sarawak maintains zero new Covid-19 case streak

KUCHING, June 2: Sarawak recorded 11 recoveries and no new Covid-19 cases for the sixth consecutive day today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, disclosed that Sarawak maintained the state’s tally of positive cases at 552 and 17 deaths.

Of the 11 recoveries, ten patients are from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one from Sibu Hospital.


Overall, Sarawak recorded 519 recoveries or 94.02 per cent of total positive cases so far.

On the Active Case Detection (ACD) operation in Belawai, Tanjung Manis, 337 samples taken have tested negative while two more samples are still awaiting laboratory test results.

As of today, 16 patients are being treated in hospitals throughout the state with none admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or requiring respiratory support.

There are 13 patients treated in SGH, while Sibu Hospital has two and Bintulu Hospital has one.

Five districts in Sarawak are still labelled as Covid-19 yellow zones, which are zones with 40 or fewer Covid-19 cases, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis.

Meanwhile, the state also registered 18 more person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today while 18 cases are still awaiting laboratory test results.

There are also 273 more persons-under-surveillance (PUS) who have been checked into selected hotels to undergo compulsory 14-day quarantines.

As of today, there are a total of 1,032 individuals undergoing quarantine in 38 hotels. — DayakDaily
