KUCHING, Nov 23: Four men armed with machetes robbed a house in Kampung Panchor Dayak, Jalan Batu 29, Serian, at approximately 1.48am today, making off with items worth over RM40,000.
Serian District Police chief DSP Neil Baginda confirmed that the police had received a report on the case.
“Inspection revealed that the thieves gained entry by cutting through the entrance gate and entering the house through a window.
“Among the stolen items were cash, gold jewellery, house keys, a laptop, an ATM card, identification cards, a driving license, a Toyota Avanza car key, and dry food, with the total estimated loss at RM40,700,” he said in a statement today.
Neil added that the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, a fine, and whipping.
Police are actively pursuing the suspects and have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward at the nearest police station or contact Investigating Officer Inspector Rizal Nante at 082-874201. — DayakDaily
