SIBU, May 18: A former deputy president of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS), Sai Malaka has been issued with a show-cause letter due to his recent media statements about the party.
In the letter issued and signed by the party’s acting president, Major (R) Moses Ripai on May 17, Sai was given a 30-day period to respond and provide reasons for his actions before the PBDS Supreme Council convenes to decide on a course of action.
Sai had been found guilty under the party’s constitution, specifically under Article V(iii), (iv), and (vi), which allows for his immediate removal from the party for undermining the integrity and reputation of the party, inciting hatred and hostility among party members towards party leaders, and supporting or engaging in actions that directly defame the party’s reputation.
Sai is among seven PBDS Supreme Council members who were stripped of their positions in the party recently.
Meanwhile, Sai in a statement today said that he received the show-cause letter on May 17, at around 5pm.
“After issuing the termination letter removing us from our positions in the party last month, there is now an attempt to expel us from being valid party members.
“This is another (sic) evidence and proof that undemocratic and malicious attitudes through dirty political conspiracies orchestrated by certain top leaders within PBDS are evident and immature,” he stressed.
He also defended his recent media statement by claiming that some party members had already made statements and spread confusion on social media platforms such as Facebook regarding their terminations.
Therefore, he insisted that they also have the right to issue a press statement to clarify the matter.
“Since our previous attempts to seek further clarification from the Secretary-General and President of the party regarding our termination have failed.
“The action of the Acting President of PBDS in issuing the Show-Cause Letter regarding my media statement is excessive and it seems like he has the authority in the media field to prevent us from speaking out.
“Our right to speak through the media is subject to the Federal Constitution of Malaysia. This proves that the Acting President of PBDS has abused his power to silence us,” he said.
He questioned the show-cause letter as the termination letter from their positions alone had already proven that the party and its leaders within PBDS have issues.
“Therefore, we leave this matter to the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS) to take action against PBDS because certain individuals within the party have caused chaos and resulted in party members quarreling.
“We have sent the letter and all supporting evidence to the ROS office, and an investigation is underway,” Sai said.
He added that as long as their termination case is unresolved, they will continue to fight for justice and expose all the irregularities within the party. — DayakDaily
