Foreign woman arrested in connection to newborn found dead in MJC Batu Kawah

KUCHING, Nov 23: A 23-year-old foreign woman has been arrested in connection to the lifeless newborn that was found in MJC Batu Kawah today.

Padawan district police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad in a statement today said the suspect was arrested based on information received.

“The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by the secret disposal of dead bodies,” he said.


Abang Zainal said on Nov 22 at 10.23pm, police received a tip-off from members of the public, informing them about the discovery of the infant’s body.

Following that, he said, a team of police from IPD Padawan Crime Investigation Department (JSJ), D10 Forensic Unit from IPK Sarawak and Hospital Umum Sarawak (HUS) were deployed to the location.

The infant’s body was later brought to SGH Forensics for further processing. — DayakDaily
