MIRI, Aug 13: Miri City Council (MCC) has decided with immediate effect that food operators and food handlers in all food premises under its jurisdiction must obtain its letter of confirmation certifying that they have received vaccination against Covid-19 (at least the first dose) before they can operate and carry out food preparation at food premises.
In a statement today, MCC said the above compulsory requirement is being announced by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in conjunction with the commencement of Phase 2 of National Recovery Plan (NRP) as from July 14, 2021.
In connection with this, MCC through its Public Health Section has on July 19, 2021 issued notice to operators of all food premises, requiring them to comply with such requirements.
Prior to this, MCC had also carried out an exercise to assist in speeding up the process of vaccination among the food operators and food handlers.
According to the data gathered by the Public Health Section, majority of the food premises have accordingly complied with such requirements.
MCC said before the issuance of Letter of Confirmation from the Public Health Section of MCC, the operators and their food handlers should firstly receive vaccination against Covid-19 (at least the first dose).
“They should keep a copy of the MySejahtera vaccination certificate or digital copy of vaccination certificate as evidence upon request for verification by Public Health personnel,” said MCC.
The operators of the food premises are required to submit such information in a form provided by the Council (Borang Pengesahan Bagi Maklumbalas Vaksinasi Covid-19).
“After verification process, MCC would within 7 days upon receiving their forms, issue a Letter of Confirmation to this effect (Surat Perakuan Vaksinasi Covid-19),” said MCC.— DayakDaily
