TATAU, April 21: A total of 12 longhouses in the Kakus constituency have been placed under EMCO for 14 days with ACD operations being simultaneously conducted.
According to a report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) and active case detection (ACD) operations were initiated after a new cluster dubbed Sungai Duan Cluster was declared in Mukah on Monday (April 19).
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) had reported that the cluster now has a total of 97 Covid-19 cases linked to it.
As residents in all 12 longhouses are not allowed to leave throughout the EMCO period, the Kakus Constituency Service Centre has immediately delivered food aid to relieve their burden.
A representative from the centre Eugene John Sikie highlighted that during the EMCO period, longhouse folks were not able to go out and buy food and other essentials at the nearest town.
“They are also not able to go down to their farms.
“As such, it is hoped that the food aid can help to reduce their burden throughout EMCO for 14 days,” he told Ukas when met after distributing food aid to 12 longhouses on Tuesday (April 20).
Among the longhouses which have received food aid include Rumah Budin (6 doors), Rumah Migi (5 doors), Rumah Jiram (13 doors), Rumah Nyaun (2 doors), Rumah Stevenson (8 doors), Rumah Subing (8 doors), Rumah Kinseng (6 doors), Rumah Muda (14 doors), Rumah Ambo (9 doors), Rumah Tangkun/Drahman (14 doors), Rumah Dingun (14 doors) dan Rumah Lindan (5 doors). — DayakDaily
