KUCHING, April 21: Michael Kong, the special assistant to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen calls on the PN government to lift the state of emergency and allow Parliament to convene.

Kong in a press statement today said Parliament must convene in order for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to be held accountable for their actions, in particular the delivery of malfunctioning ventilators by the Ministry of Health (MoH) to Sibu Hospital.

The Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) member claimed members of the PN government are only interested in politicking and shoring up support for their own political agenda instead of focusing their attention on fighting Covid-19 and rebuilding the economy.

ā€œOnly after the exposĆ© by (Bukit Assek assemblywoman) Irene Chang concerning the faulty ventilators received in Sarawak did the MoH come out to admit the matter. This is utterly disappointing considering that Sarawak desperately needs these ventilators especially when the number of Covid-19 cases is high on a daily basis.

ā€œEven (Assistant Minister for Local Government) Dr Annuar Rapaee saw this as an insult to the people of Sarawak.ā€

He deemed Minister of Health Dato Sri Dr Adham Baba and his deputy ministers Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali and Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang as ‘an embarrassment to Malaysians’, claiming they had been unable to lead the country in the battle against Covid-19 and were solely depending on Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and his team.

ā€œWhat is even more insulting from this entire debacle is that Aaron, who is from Gabungan Parti Sarawak is also one of the Deputy Ministers of Health,ā€ Kong added. ā€” DayakDaily
