Five nabbed for illegal cockfighting, defying MCO in Mukah

MUKAH, April 7: Five men were detained for illegal cockfighting and violating the movement control order here today.

According to Mukah district police chief Supt Jimmy Panyau, a police team conducted a raid at Jalan Ulu Bayan where they discovered the five suspects engaged in illegal cockfighting activity.

The five suspects aged between 53 to 71 were immediately arrested and taken to a police station.


The police also seized three live roosters, one dead rooster, 18 plastic chairs, a plastic table, a wooden table, a weighing machine, a cockfighting spur, and RM137 during the read.

The case is being investigated under Regulation 11 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020 and Section 3 (1) Cruelty to Animals Act 1962. — DayakDaily
