SERIAN, June 3: Five people, including a baby girl who was believed to have been flung from a vehicle during a crash, were killed in a tragic single-vehicle accident along Jalan Baki Lama-Ensengei here this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.41am and personnel from the Serian Station were dispatched to the scene.
According to Operation Commander PBK II (TBK I) Bujang Ina, the accident involved a single vehicle that crashed into a water pipe along the roadside.
The victims were identified as a 30-year-old man, a 47-year-old woman, a 26-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, and a two-year-old girl.
Firefighters extricated the four adult victims from the wrecked vehicle, while the baby girl was found by members of the public near the crash site and is believed to have been thrown from the vehicle upon impact.
All five victims were pronounced dead at the scene by health authorities.
The bodies were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation and follow-up action. — DayakDaily
