Five arrested after viral Satok brawl

KUCHING, March 19: Police have arrested five local men, aged 18 to 35, linked to a brawl that occurred at Jalan Rubber, Satok last night which went viral on social media.

In a statement, Kuching district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the altercation was triggered by the loud revving of engine and exhaust, and has no connection to any racial or ethnic issues.

“The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to five years, a fine, or both,” he added.

The Kuching district police chief advised the public not to take matters into their own hands outside the bounds of the law, and anyone with information related to the incident can contact the Kuching IPD control center at 082-24444 or the investigating officer Inspector Ridzainuddin Rosley Abdullah at 010-943-1449.

“The public is also advised not to spread the video recording as it can cause unrest and disturb public order within the community,” he stressed. – DayakDaily
