KUCHING, June 15: The winner of the Miss International Sarawak beauty pageant will be appointed an ambassador to represent the State, says Miss International Sarawak 2023 director Dato Raymond Jolly.
Raymond said the main aim of the beauty pageant is to support women’s advancement, with this year’s slogan being ‘Cheers To All Women’.
The slogan is a message to invite women to join the competition and to promote Sarawak’s culture and heritage, especially to the younger generation, he explained.
“Sarawak is keen to host the finals of this competition, therefore, we need to have a candidate who is an all-rounder and good spokesperson for Miss International Sarawak,” Raymond told reporters at the press conference at the first audition for Miss International Sarawak held at Centexs Commercial at Juma’ani Pavillion, Petra Jaya, today.
He continued to say that the organiser will hold a second audition sometime in July, and the competition for the Miss International Sarawak title will be in October 2023.
Also present at the press conference was Centexs Commercial general manager Mohamad Shahren Mohamad Yusri, Miss International Sarawak 2023 committee members Arzmy Hargreaves and Bridget Bulan Taja, as well as Miss International Sarawak director Datin Pearl Jai Mohan. — DayakDaily
