Firemen catch 14-foot crocodile in oil palm plantation’s drainage stream

KUCHING, Dec 10: A massive 14-foot crocodile was caught by firefighters inside Jaya Tiasa Simalau Plantation drainage in Bintulu Coastal Road, this afternoon.

Batu Niah fire station in a statement said after receiving the call requesting assistance to catch the reptile from the locals at 3.20 pm today, they responded with a team of six firefighters led by PBK II Mohamud, to the location.

“Firefighters arriving at the location confirmed that there is a crocodile that was caught stuck inside a trap in the plantation, measuring about 14-foot in length and two-feet wide.

“After conducting a size-up, firefighters, together with the state wildlife personnel then proceed to tie the crocodile with ropes, before successfully putting it under control,” it said.

The statement noted the reptile was later handed over to the State Forestry Department for further action. –DayakDaily.
