Firefighters often go beyond the call of duty

KUCHING, July 30: True to their mission statement of ‘Bomba is ever ready to serve’, their jobs can indeed go beyond the normality.

Today, firefighters from Samarahan and Sarikei were called to rescue a sick dog in a drain while the other team was asked to check on buckled tiles in a house.


When Samarahan fire station received an emergency call at 8.59am, a house owner reported that the tiles on the floor had popped up.

Upon arrival, they found some of the tiles were indeed buckled from the floor.

After making sure everything was safe, firefighters returned back to their station at 9.33am.

Meanwhile, when Sarikei fire station received a distress call at 4.18pm, four rescuers rushed to a housing estate at Jalan Lian Soon.

They found a dog trapped in a drain and needed a few helping hands to get out of the situation.

The dog is finally freed.

Firefighters had to crawl inside the drain to retrieve the dog. The mission ended at 4.37pm. The dog was safely handed over back to his owner. — DayakDaily
