KUCHING, March 7: A two-storey house in Lorong 1U, Jalan Foochow was completely destroyed by fire today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Tabuan Jaya was alerted at 11.58 am, prompting a swift response from firefighters, with additional support from Bomba Padungan.
According to the operation commander, the semi-permanent structure was entirely engulfed in flames.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, as the residents were not home at the time of the incident.
Firefighters deployed an offensive strategy and implemented a fire break to contain the blaze, successfully preventing it from spreading to five nearby houses.
Overhauling operations were then carried out to eliminate any remaining ignition sources and ensure the site’s safety.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng visited the scene to assess the situation and ensure assistance for those affected. — DayakDaily
